Sensible Heat

Otherlab is building a reliable, scalable, grid-connected thermal energy storage and load shifting technology at a cost of 1¢/kWh (roughly 1/20th the cost of current lithium solutions).

This system consists of modular insulated storage tanks and control software that combines signals from the grid, weather forecasts, and home inputs to manage and store a home’s anticipated thermal energy needs.

In conjunction with source-agnostic heat pumps, this system provides a reliable storage capacity and 16-hour load shifting capability across a network of homes, providing a leap forward in building decarbonization.
